So yeah, I like boosts. And overdrives. And distortions and fuzzes. If it makes dirt, chances are I’m gonna give it a try. I absolutely love the idea of the Crown Jewel. Brilliant design and I will own one. Modular boosts? Amazing. So here’s my “question”.
For a while now, I’ve been considering building a custom dirt centered board. Think Pate Cornish’s custom built effects units where individual pedals are removed from their casings and then hardwired all together into a single, pedal board sized unit. Theoretically, I’m not limited by size to any standard pedal enclosure. What I’m thinking of, as far as the Crown Jewel is concerned, is having a wide selection of the boosts modules alongside the Crown Jewel. Then, ideally, I could switch between these boost modules via something like a rotary switch knob that allows me to select between my choice of boosts and put them into the circuit. Would something like this be doable in y’all’s opinion? Again, space isn’t an issue because the whole thing will be custom built to whatever size is necessary. I’ve been contemplating this project for a good while and I’ve a pretty good idea which of my dirt pedals would make the transition to the new board. The Crown Jewel, which I just discovered, would be an ideal addition as it’d allow me to have kind of a Swiss Army knife drive on-board along with my Klone, Timmy clone, OCD clone, Sweet Honey clone, BB preamp, Ram’s Head muff clone, and a few other possible dirt pedals I’m debating on whether or not to transplant into this monster.
Hope this all makes sense! To reiterate though, the question is about adding a handful of the boost modules to the Crown Jewel with the ability to switch between them. Problems? Concerns? Advice? I’ll take it all. Thanks in advance for any insight or help.
Best,
Andy
PS- Here’s a link to Pete’s site and the page with his effects boards, just in case someone is not familiar with what I’m talking about. Thanks again!
