Have a bit of an issue with the Crown Jewel kit I just started putting together. I have the rev 1.1 board, but seem to have the diodes from 1.0

Specifically:
I have 3-1N4001 diodes that 1.0 calls for instead of 1-1N4001 and 2-1n5817 that 1.1 calls for.

Do I need to get the other diodes to match the board?

And if the 4001s are close enough, why the revision? Those seems to be the only difference between the two, at least in terms of components.

I'm not familiar with this specific pedal, but the 1N5817 is a Schottkey diode, with a much lower forward voltage than the "standard" .6-.7 we see in the 4001's. I would guess these are used for polarity protection with minimal voltage drop, although they could also do some pretty aggro clipping if desired.

I'd send an email to sales @ byoc and see what they say - chances are, they'll send you the Schottkeys.

In the CJ circuit, the Schottky's have the effect of dropping the voltage slightly, particularly in the +18V part of the circuit coming out of the charge pump IC. Using them rather than the 1N4001s will give you 1 - 1.5V higher there, so less than a 10% difference. I have two CJ's, one of each version, and I really can't hear any discernible difference in normal use. That said, I'm sure BYOC will send you the Schottky's at no cost if you request them.

Thank for the run down! Did get in contact with sales and they're sending me the correct diodes. I'll probably put in the ones I have temporarily; don't think I can wait to start playing with it :D
