Hey guys! I have an Optical Comp. it was actually assembled for me by Mr Matthews duhvoodoman before I started my own projects. It’s great. My understanding is that it’s the DOD 280. But I’ve encountered conflicting descriptions of what the attack time is for both the BYOC and the 280. So I’d love to know especially what mine is. As a follow-up question, I read somewhere that might be a spot on the board for a switch to maybe add some different values to get different attack times? That would be cool!

If you're asking what the attack time is in terms of milliseconds, I couldn't tell you.

Yes, the PCB has the infrastructure to add a 3-way attack time toggle switch. It's been a long time since I've played around with the circuit, but I believe you put a 100uF cap in the space with the slightly bigger solder pads and a 1uF in the space with the smaller solder pads. Then just add an on-off-on SPDT toggle switch in the space with 3 eyelets. https://buildyourownclone.com/collections/switches-1/products/switchtgspdtpc1-0-1

Thanks, that’s great. I’m excited to mess with that.
I was wondering whether we could call the stock values either fast or slow attack?
I def don’t need to know specific to the millisecond. To me it sounds like a fast attack. But I could be wrong. Thanks again

Yeah, I guess you could call the stock 33uF cap "fast". The smaller the cap, the faster the attack. The 33uF has a bit of that snappy rubber band attack going on. Not quite as fast as something like a dynacomp or Ross based compressor though.
