I've got to step 8 in building my Blues OverDrive pedal wher. it says:

Code:
Add wires to the IN, OUT, LED, POS, and the Ground eyelet located in the top of the board. Start by cutting 4 3.5" pieces of wire...

And then it goes on to show a picture of the board with seven different pieces of wire sticking out of the board.

I don't see any obvious reasons why it should say to start with cutting four wires instead of seven. If only four, which holes do these so in, out of the seven. Is there just a typo in the instructions? I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding something.

It is confusing, for sure. One thing that will help is the photo of the completed pedal on page 4.

The 3.5-inch wires should connect to IN, OUT, and the two Ground connections (only one of which is shown connected in the diagram, but both are shown in the photograph) -- these are the wires that connect between the PCB and the Input and Output jacks.

You can use shorter lengths for connecting to the power jack (-, + and +), and the RING connection (which goes to the Input jack).

Hope that helps.

I think the text on that page was copied over from another, earlier pedal. Go with the 7 wires you see in the diagram. The three that go to the DC jack only need to be about 1.25" inch. For the ring connection, make it about 1.5", and the In, Out and ground wire should all be 2 - 2.5".

You can certainly include that second ground connection, but it's not really necessary. The output jack will ground back to the input through the metal enclosure.

Thanks for the help! I got it all figured out and working.
