I have a couple questions about my kit. I'm having a hard time reading the colors on these tiny 1/8W resistors, so I went to my multimeter instead. I made a couple observations:

- All four #140 resistors (100K, Brown/Black/Black/Orange/Brown) are measuring 87K on my multimeter
- All five #474 resistors (470K, Yellow/Purple/Black/Orange/Brown) are measuring 185K on my multimeter

I also seem to be missing a #103 (10K, Brown/Black/Black/Red/Brown) resistor. Any issues using a 1/4W 5% resistor in its place? It's probably not worth the effort to ship a single resistor.

I assume you took these readings on the resistors before they were installed? Once installed in a circuit, you often will not get reliable resistance readings due to the possibility of parallel circuit paths, leading to erroneously low readings.

What kind of multimeter are you using, and are the batteries in it reasonably fresh?

Yes, using a 1/4W 5% 10K resistor should be just fine.

Oh, I hadn't thought of that. Certainly possible. I messed up and should have measured all these before installing. Not much I can do now, I suppose. I'll assume they're correct since the stripes are right - I appreciate you pointing out a pretty obvious reason why they are giving "wrong" readings!

It's a cheap multimeter I've had for years. Batteries are fresh, though.

Thanks for the help!

Very common error. My guess is that the pedal will sound just fine when you get it done. And if it doesn't, we're here for ya!

Well, it sure does! :) I'm actually using it for bass as the pedal this kit is based on is a favorite among bassists due to the fuzz without losing the low end. Could not be happier! I've actually had a few friends ask me to build them one as well :) Thank you again for your help!

Great! Enjoy the pedal. And buy a few more kits for those friends!
