Based on the ideas in this link,
https://www.csguitars.co.uk/ds1-mod,
I've transposed the components as per the schematics and here's what you can do to make your Boss DS-1 / BYOC Orange Distortion into a BASS Distortion pedal.
Change C2 from 47nF to 1uF. This allows more bass frequencies in.
Change R6 from 470k to 330k. This is the feedback resistor. Lowers the gain so as not to clip the extra bass before the opamp stage.
Associated caps are already at 1uF, no change needed.
R13, I used 2.7k and sounds good. My pedal sounds great for bass with the gain and dist at 12 oclock.
R24 change from 6.8k to 15k and C11 from 22nF to 47nf. These help shape the Tone Control with more bass.
I think that's why and what does what. Seems to work well.
The original DS-1 schematic varies from BYOC. The DS-1 calls for a swap of C2 from 470nF to 1uF and C3 from 47nF to 150nF.
But here, I think it's only C2 available. It's the only related Cap between Q1 and Q2. Cheers!
