Hi y'all! I'm sorry if this has been answered before, I assure you that I've searched through thoroughly before posting.

So I'm building the Spring Reverb Kit for a buddy of mine and for whatever reason, when engaged there's a humming sound and then it goes into fast repeats as if the time were up too high on a delay and then starts to feed back. I double checked my wiring and added a ground between the jacks to be safe and it still doesn't work.

To answer the questions from the build doc...
Bypass works fine
Yes, the LED works (now that I've added the ground wire)
I've tried this with both a battery in good shape and a one spot wall wart

Pics below...

I know that the reverb module covers a lot of the rear of the PCB, but we'd still like to see that.

Working through this process will often solve such problems: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=52188

I dropped this project for a bit but got back to it this morning and pulled the reverb out. Here's a pic of the full bottom. Let me know if anything looks wonky. Thanks!

I did just notice this little imperfection in the board. Could this be an issue with the board itself that I was shipped?

If you're asking about the via, that's not an imperfections. That's supposed to be there.

What kind of power supply are you using?

I was, good to know, thanks!

I've used a 1 spot, Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 5, and 9v battery. All the same issue.

Don't use the 1spot.

With the chips in their sockets, please take voltage readings of the chips and pin 1 of the reverb module.

Okay so what I've got for readings is 9.3 at pin 1 on the module and one of the ICs with 8.9 on the other IC.

9V at pin 1 of the module is not right. Are you sure about that? It should be 5V. The 78L05 is a 5V regulator. It should be supplying a steady 5V to pin 1. If you are indeed getting 9+V at pin one, then I would have to say that's the problem.

It's possible, or even probable, that I'm doing something incorrect so thank you so much for all of your help. I appreciate it.

I just went back in and tried it with the pedal plugged in and engaged. Looking for DC Volts on my multimeter I'm getting 4.91 at pin 1 and 4.4 on each IC. Sorry about the earlier readings, not sure what I did wrong.

Just wanted to close the loop here... Thank goodness my father-in-law is an electrical engineer so I was able to bring this to him to check out. Basically, I had tried to ground the jacks and inadvertently ran the output to the input which was creating the oscillation. The enclosed jacks always f*ck me up. So yeah, it was something dumb. The pedal is all built now, it sounds great, and I'm going to buy another for a new project.

Thanks so much to everyone for having taken a look and for all of your help!

Glad to hear you got it sorted out. You are FAR from the first to make that mistake! Enjoy the new pedal....and your future builds!
