Hello all,

I'm getting the led to engage, and in bypass I get amplified sound, but when I engage the pedal, I get nothing, no sound, just the LED turns on. Hopefully these pics are ok and any advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Carefully remove the PT2399 and reinsert it in the correct orientation, with the half-circle tab at the "top" near the DC jack. I would remove it by gently prying it with a small screwdriver tip, rocking it up a bit at a time from each side so you don't bend the pins.

Let us know where you're at when you flip it around.

OK, first, thank you for that. I switched it to the correct orientation, but still nothing

OK, thanks for reporting back.

Very very often, your symptoms (bypass and LED work, but effect mode is silent) are caused by a bad solder joint somewhere. You said in your other thread you've had success before, and the quality of your soldering is better than average for a troubleshooting thread… but even the seasoned veterans get bad solder joints sometimes. So the next step I'd recommend is to reflow all your solder joints. This post has lots of details about that if you haven't done it before.

Please take voltage readings of the TL072

I've reflowed all the solder joints, and I replaced the TL072 but still nothing. Still getting the sound on bypass, and nothing when I engage (LED still coming on). I'm at a loss with this one.

What's the best way to do that? I have spare TL072 and tried it with no success either.

You need to have the chip in circuit. You then need to have the power one, i.e., a battery or adapter connected and a plug inserted into the input jack. Then you need to set your meter to read DCV (not ACV) in the 9v range (probably need to set the dial to 20VDC). Then touch the black probe to ground and the red probe to the various pins of the TL072.

Here's a video on how to do it.

Thank you. Very helpful. Hopefully this diagram makes sense.

You've got your 470k and 470R resistors mixed up, so you're bleeding off most of your input signal to ground and blocking the little bit that's left from getting out. 470k should be right next to the "1" eyelet. 470R should be next to the sheep logo and copyright symbol.

That was it. It's working perfectly now. Thank you so much. Sorry for all the questions. This forum has been fantastic (plus, I learned in addition to double checking my resistors, how to test the voltage on my ICs.

Thank you again (and everyone else who helped). It is very much appreciated!
