Seems a bit odd, i Did the mod for more of a sweep (1m resistor) Is that what is causing my problem? Just doesn't sound like its got the same...slow sweep as in the song.. Any help is appreciated . Also, would changing the IC help?

the 440 circuit takes a lot of fiddlin' with. Changing the IC won't do anything.

You will not get what you are looking for with the 440.....
sorry.
A rackmount device called a Mutronics Mutator created that awesome sound used through the solo at the end, ... but you could use the 440 for the other small parts, like in the beginning,... but that is a very subtle effect. I can do the same thing on my old Small Stone.

Such a pitty that the awsome effect on that solo cant be easily duplicated live :(, Greenwood recorded that solo dry and put it through the Mutronics Mutator later while continuosly turning the knobs. Very clever

Ive tried many times.... Ive never gotten "close"... (aka, near perfect, for me) to that sound.
He plays it live and sounds great. Not exactly like the album, but still it sounds good.
Closest Ive come was when I created a patch on a digitech MultiFX pedal. It was awesome, and very close.

I think they actually only used the 440 on Subterrainian Homesick Alien, not Paranoid Android... that was the Mutator as previously stated. The info for the 440 build says they used it on OK Computer, but not which song.. The little subtle effects at the beginning of Paranoid Android are a phaser effect... If I'm thinking of the same parts...

Phaser was used in 1st movement of Paranoid Android and Planet Telex (chorus)
Mutator in last solo
Roland Space-echo (rackmount) creates special modulation effects, used on Exit Music, and Subterranean HA.
440 ... who really knows. I have never even came across a picture of it in his gear setup. It sounds too weak for Paranoid Android. I once owned an original 440 and sold it the next weak. Too weak for me. But, I would slaughter for a Lovetone Meatball....

I've seen plenty of pictures of the 440 in Jonni's pedalboard. He still used it during the 2006 tour. You may still be able to find a few pics with it in the dead airspace section of their site.

Personally I prefer to use the 440 clone in the beginning as I do hear a lot of wah coming from his part live. For the final solo I prefer to use a phaser to get that sweep. Besides SHA the 440 was also used for Lucky, in combo with a tremelo and phaser for that whack whack whack noise.
