Just finished up my Soaring Skillet kit. I get a strong hum from the pedal. Doesn't matter if it's on or off, gets stronger when it's plugged into a power source. Pan light barely comes on, pan function does not seem to work. Phase light comes on and the phase does seem to be functional, although it seems to be phasing the hum.

I've checked the soldering and verified the wiring and I can't seem to find anything obviously wrong.

Interestingly, when the pan switch is partly depressed it picks up radio, not sure what station though.

Any thoughts on where I should start looking for the problem?

Sounds like a grounding issue. Your wires are backwards on the jacks. Swap those and see what happens.

Not sure how I missed that.

That does seem to have fixed the problem.

I'll go stand in the corner and feel ashamed now.

Don’t be ashamed; every single one of us has done something like that before. Most of us have done exactly that before. Glad it’s working! Your build looks clean, nice job.

HA, I remember that post. Also testing circuits with the in/out jacks plugged in backwards, being befuddled, and not noticing it for 30 freaking minutes. I still do that after a long day of prototyping.
