First build but am having an issue where when I use a 9v power supply through the adapter I get a hum. It does however work great just using a 9v battery.
I reflowed one solder joint on the DC adapter that looked cold but the other connections seemed ok. that did not correct the problem. how would I diagnose a ground problem?

My first guess would be that it's a problem with the power supply. What kind are you using? Have you powered other pedals with it? Are you daisy chaining multiple pedals together?

I've tried using an eventide and a ART electronics both are 9v output

no daisy chaining here. Straight into my Antelope soundcard

Hmm, sounds like it's probably not the PS then. (We get a LOT of bad power supplies on here.)

Can you post a photo that shows your wiring of the DC jack?

It might not be playing well with the sound card. Do you still have the same problem playing into a "normal" amp?

well Y'all weren't lying about power adapters! I had tried 3 different ones all from reputable companies including Eventide and ART electronics. I found myself digging through a bin of cables yesterday and found another from D'addario and it works perfectly! Glad I found it because I was getting close to pulling this thing apart and rewiring the DC jack. So glad my build works and my soldering was satisfactory. now waiting for my classic overdrive to arrive :)

Glad you got it sorted out. Power can be so finicky!
