I built mine to turbo specs and I am not noticing a big difference between the different toggle positions. I do notice a differnce in overdrive mode cause the volume drops slightly, but between turbo and big boost I don't notice a diffence in sound or volume. The description of the big boost is a clean boost, is it a clean boost to the rat sound or clean boost to the amp?

Unless I've built my "wrong" the exact same way you have, the clean boost isn't exactly "clean", it overdrives the opamp. The vintage mode does have more personality than the turbo mode but both sound good. If you crank the gain and switch through the settings, you should notice a volume drop from clean boost to the distortion setting, even with the Turbo LEDs in place, the overdrive mode should be the quietest.

You may want to double check the orientation of the LEDs, if you look inside them you can see the anode and cathode, the bigger one is the cathode. Just make sure they are oriented in opposite directions.

Maybe we'll hear from some others that have built the pedal and see if their "clean" is similar.

Hope this helps,
Roger

I just built a mighty mouse and I can definitely tell a difference. Not only does the clean have more volume but it seems to carry more bass as well. It also cleans up very well when you keep the distortion low and use your guitars volume knob.

My problem is the filter knob though. If it's dimed, the pedal sounds awesome, but anything below 10 and the sound gets way too muffled. The kit came with 2 silver pots and 1 gold pot, but they all have the same model number, so I didn't think that would matter. I have the gold pot in the dirt position, perhaps it should be in the filter position?

Yeah, I agree on the Filter, I don't have it dimed, but I seem to run it quite a bit higher than I normally run tone pots, mine is about 3/4 of the way up. It's been so long since I owned a Rat that I don't remember where I used to have the Filter set on those.

I never played on a real rat, so that's how it's actually supposed to sound? There just seems to be a HUGE drop off in the filter and while I haven't put the knobs on yet, the knob only seems useable within the last bit of the turn. Everything else is mud.

At least I know I'm not alone and I can finish screwing everything into place.
