Build Your Own Clone Message Board

Hello! this is my first time posting here. (my english might not be perfect lol).

I wanted to build a bass friendly fuzz for a friend, so i choose the lil fuzz.
I didnt buy the kit from BYOC as its really difficutl to ship where i live, so i bought all the components needed locally.

I've checked all the values and they are all correct!
I used bc108B transistors.

I breadboarded everything and when i test it i have a couple problems:

The wet ouput is a lot lower than bypass, like, bypass kinda hurt my ears, but wet output is super low volume.
Another issue is that maybe it doesnt really sound right, but i cant really tell because of the low volume.

Im using a 9v batery instead of a dc jack.

I know how to use a multimeter! im not really sure where or which values to read.
I think the transistor values are ok.
I've noticed that the signal value stays mostly the same until it reaches the 0.01u cap, then it gets really low. also if i bypass this cap, the output volume is okay, but i cant notice any fuzz.



The last thing i wanted to mention is that i had to conect that to +9v, otherwise i had no output.
I dont really know if thats okay lol.



I have double checked my breadboarding, i really think thats not the issue.

The way i tested it is by using my pc as the inpunt (so heaphone out to In jack), and then used headphones directly from the output to listen to it.

You’re gonna need something to amplify the signal, you can’t really plug straight into a pedal like that.

How can the bypass and the wet signal be soo much different?
And why does the output cap brign the volume so low?

Im new to pedal circuits so any explanation is appreciated.

Sure, no problem. Bypass is just like plugging in your headphones, it’s basically a straight path across the switch. The pedal takes the volume down to a level that needs to be amplified again.

ill explain my logic so you can tell me where im wrong haha

the signal from my pc is too weak, it sounds loud thru the bypass, but really low thru the pedal.
(i also tried it with a synth and i got the same result)
so, if i use a bass instead of my pc, the dry volume and the wet volume should be more or less the same volume?



thats the part that confuses me, why would the dry and wet signal be different in volume?
