It's just been brought to our attention that the enclosed panel mounted jacks in the most recent batch of super8 kits have the tip and ring terminals switched. If you are having trouble with your super8 build, you should check this first. Unfortunately, there is no easy "landmarks" to differentiate these jacks from the normal jacks. You'll need to look inside the body of the jack and see which prong is connected to which terminal. This requires that you know how to tell the tip prong apart from the ring prong. The easiest way to do this, if you're not sure, is to take an actual guitar cable, insert the plug into the jack, and see which of the prongs makes contact with the tip of the guitar cable plug.

The good news is that there is nothing wrong with these jacks in terms of their functionality. You simply need to move the tip wire to the other terminal.

We are terribly sorry for this mix up and apologize for any inconvenience it has caused. We're updating the instructions now to make note of this. If your kit came with these jacks, and you can't resolve the problem simply by moving the tip wires to the other terminal, please contact sales@buildyourownclone.com

I was just going to contact you about this - as my last two Super 8 builds had this occur. Luckily I caught it during preliminary testing.
