I saw one of these in my local guitar store the other day and they just have a pick me up and play me vibe to them. Seemed like a decent instrument from the brief bit of playing I did on it.

That’s pretty badass. More and more, squier basses aren’t anything g to overlook for bar musicians. You definitely don’t want to take an expensive bass that’s only going to make you 100 a night.

OMG, bass players, get it together! You need to play your $3000 instrument into at least 20 different expensive pedals before the signal even hits your $1500 amp!!!

Actually, I started noticing Squier basses becoming pretty prominent amongst the bar bands about 10 years ago. Some great players making some great sounds and no shame whatsoever in it being the "sub-brand." I have not seen the same thing amongst the guitar set, but they Squier definitely seems to have the bass situation figured out.

Which is too bad, because there are some FINE Squier guitars. I own five of them--two Teles and three Strats, all from the Classic Vibe series. Two of the latter are "partscasters" that I built up from CV Strat bodies and necks that I acquired separately. The others have had various pickup, electronics, and cosmetic upgrades, not because they needed them but because that's what I do! They look great, play very well, and sound every bit as good as their more expensive Fender brethren. Here's my Squier quintet:

EDIT: The two maple-necked Squiers are the only guitars I own with quarter-sawn necks! On sub-$400 guitars!! WHO KNEW??

I wouldn't make the claim to be a great player, but I am getting some great sounds out of mine!

Nice! That's the only one of the three CV Tele models that I don't have.
