I have unearthed some old unused BYOC boards from 2006ish that I never got around to building for me and others. A few have black corrosion on the solder pads. The wisdom of the internets suggests that vinegar should take it off. I'm thinking a wipe with vinegar and then a quick dip in isopropyl alcohol.

Has anyone dealt with the same problem? Any preferred way of getting the corrosion off without adversely affecting the traces?

Vinegar might work. Can't hurt to try. If it turns it shiny, then I'd say it worked. I'd probably try one of those green 3M scrub pads.

Hi, this is my first post here.
but you can trust me:)

use Bon Ami cleanser.
it is all natural and nontoxic, and has no chemicals or smell.
made from feldspar and soap.
also, it's only a couple bucks per can.

I always polish up my boards before soldering.
works especially well on brown copper boards and traces.
shiny, shiny
it will shine those tinned pads right up!
