Hello!

I just ordered my first kit (250+) earlier this week and it should be at the house when I get off of work today! :D

I've read where you can mod the 250+ to either Dist+ or 250 specs and BYOC's site mentions that the kit comes with extra diodes to experiment with. Can anyone suggest some mods that I can easily do with the parts provided? (Preferably just swapping out components on the board rather than adding switches or anything like that. I also have a bag of resistors from Radio Shack if any of those will come in handy.)

I'm looking for something that might possibly make the output louder (There was quite a volume drop on my Dist+ reissue I used to have) and fuller (I also thought my reissue sounded quite thin.) I don't know if these problems will be present in the BYOC kit, since it's supposed to be more modeled after the 70's script version, but I thought I'd ask. And sorry if this has already been discussed in the forum, I searched for "250+" and it turned up no results. :?

Thanks! :D

The usual advice here is to build it stock, try it out, then look into mods if you need more from the pedal. Another advantage to that approach is that if there are any problems with the build, it's a lot easier to troubleshoot and get help with the same layout that most of us have on our builds.

As with many of us here the Dist+ was my first build. Have fun!

For a higher output from the pedal swap out the Ge diodes (1N34A) for some Si diodes (1N914). For even more output try using LED clippers.

The easiest mods for this involve diodes. If you have single in line sockets available to you http://smallbear-electronics.mybigcommerce.com/single-in-line-mill-max/ then socket the six diode holes and play. But do make it stock first, even using sockets. In mine I wanted a bit more gain and ended up with a yellow diffused 3mm led in the third position. Have fun and take your time, measure the resistors with a meter and check the orientation of the polarized parts.
