Hello, I got the Champlifier kit without the Head Cab because I was going to pop it into an existing combo amp cabinet. Now I'm thinking of building a head cab instead so that I can keep the other amp. My question is whether there are plans or instructions, or even info on dimensions for building a head cab for the champlifier. I am no woodworking ninja, so finger joints are out of the question. But I am thinking I can build a straight box maybe with a few long pieces of wood at the joints to reinforce it. I guess I'd need to cut out part of the top for the control panel, and hopefully that wouldn't be too hard?

I have a circular saw, hand saw, and miter box to work with. Advice appreciated. Thank you!

You can probably use something like this: https://www.scribd.com/document/325861294/Champ-Cab-5F1

Use your chassis assembly as a check to make sure it fits, but AFAIK, the chassis we use has the same dimensions as the original.

You don't want to connect the walls of the amp together with just glue that's for sure. There has to be some type of mechanical joint to hold up to years of moving it and vibration. I used reinforced rabbets with oak dowels (and obviously glue).

Thanks this is helpful. I can't do fancy joints but was thinking of vertical rails at the joints for extra stabilization, along with metal right angle brackets in the halfway into the cab.

I'm not sure what you mean by vertical rails. The right angle brackets aren't gonna do it. They only hold the wood where they are placed. The wood will probably move, even plywood.

If you end up doing that, make sure you orient the rings of the wood so they face up, like a bowl. The wood will actually warp down, keeping the joint tight.
