I just finished my crown jewel and I'm about to put together the mosfet module. The instructions say to install the diodes and transistor opposite of how the screen print shows. My problem is that the screen print on my mosfet board for the diodes and transistor are actually opposite what's shown in the build instructions. My board is rev 1.1. Just want to confirm I should follow the screen print, assuming it was corrected for 1.1.

Also will the crown jewel run without a module installed? Thanks

I believe that your assumption on the v.1.1 is right, but have asked Nick at BYOC to confirm.

As for your question about the CJ working with no boost module installed: Yes, the overdrive side will still work fine. Not so, the boost side (obviously!).

I figured this was the case but thought it was safe to ask. Either way, I goofed something and will have to reinvestigate later this week. Signal passes when the pedal is off, the switches activate the LEDs, but when the drive side is engaged, there's no signal. If I strum really hard, I get a little raspy buzz but that's it.

Updated the instructions. Follow the screenprint on the 1.1 boards.

Suggest that you start a thread in the Op amp based Distortions, fuzzes and overdrives sub-forum on this problem. Be sure to post photos--good quality (large, well-focused, well-lit) shots of both sides of the module. One good thing to try before doing that would be to jumper the "I" and "O" holes of the upper boost socket and then test the pedal with the boost footswitch engaged. It should then pass signal, though it will sound exactly like the pedal does when the boost F/S is in bypass mode. This would confirm that the signal path into and out of the boost module is functional and the problem is definitely on the module itself.

Got this built and installed in my crown jewel. I like how it sounds but at higher boost settings, there is a persistent but low level screech that's really apparent when the boost is engaged but I'm not playing. I'm not really familiar with mosfets. Is this typical?

Depends on how many other things you've got turned up. You could probably make an improvement by making your wiring as short as possible.
