I’m building a GGG companion fuzz kit. The schematic, parts list, and layout diagram all call for a 50k pot for vol and fuzz... the kit shipped w a pair of 250k pots. I’m new to this, so I could use some help understanding if they are interchangeable, or no. If yes, what, if any, would be the effects on tone and output. I’m attaching a pic of the pots in case I’m reading the designation incorrectly.
Thanks for you info, advice, and patience!
Jeff

You can get the range of 0 – 50k out of a 250k pot, but you'll be using only the first 20% of the pot's range. These are linear pots, so at least you wouldn't have the issue of a logarithmic taper to contend with. I think there is a trick you can do with a resistor to limit the range of a pot, but I don't recall what it is or if it would work here.

In any case, though, it will be less than ideal. You should definitely request replacements from GGG. If it were BYOC, I know they'd send them free of charge. I have to imagine GGG would do the same.
