I put the Classic Fuzz kit together and it seems to work except that the fuzz pot tapers off very quickly. it goes from 100% open (full fuzz) to what sounds like a dry signal in less than a quarter turn. Everything else seems to work fine: three way toggle works, volume and bias pots work, LED works, it works in bypass and with the effect on. I haven't soldered anything in a while so I know I don't have the best looking solders but I re-soldered the fuzz pot and I still have the same issue. Is the pot bad or did I mess up somewhere on the circuit board? If I messed up on the circuit board why is just the taper of the fuzz pot affected by the mistake? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see any component misplacements (always possible I'm missing something), although can you double check that the 2.2u and the 22u capacitors are in the right places?

I think the problem is likely to be due to your soldering quality. As you admitted, it's not great. I would recommend reading through Stephen's Tips For A Successful Build for a bit of inspiration and advice, and then reflowing all the soldering joints on the entire build. This is a pretty easy process once your technique is solid. Make sure your iron tip is hot and clean for each joint.

Thanks for the reply. Confirmed that 2u2 and 22u are in the right spot. I'll go back over everything. Thanks.

The bias pot affects the taper of the fuzz pot. It taper should be smoother as you turn the bias pot counter clockwise. Regardless, the fuzz face isn't know for the fuzz knob having a smooth taper.
