I received a new batch of transistors (Thank you!) and am looking for tips to remove the current ones. I used a solder sucker over the 3 spots for one of them and it doesn't seem to be able to remove enough to free the part.

Two alternatives:

1) After removing as much as possible with the solder sucker, use some good quality desoldering braid (THIS STUFF is fabulous) around each leg to get the residual solder. It may be necessary to apply the braid to both sides of the PCB around each of the three eyelets to get it all. In any case, be careful not to force the transistor out, since that is a good way to rip out an eyelet or tear loose a trace.

-or-

2) If you don't plan to use the original transistors again, just cut the heads off and remove the legs one at a time. Use the solder sucker to remove any residual solder from each eyelet, then install your new transistor. This option is way easier & faster than #1.
