Yeah. Those are simple mods. The biggest one is the rotary knob. All that does is just give you several different input cap options.

thanks

You can figure it out using these 16 pics http://www.guitareffectsonline.com/diy/tweakfuzz.zip

It's only 100$, and appears very different from a fuzz face, I may just buy this. Would it work with a transistor?

That's a good price.
I thought it was a fuzzface with an input cap selector.

Its built on a fuzz face, with a "tone" selector, basically 6 caps.
this is sourced from http://www.bluessaraceno.com which it states that it is "Loosely based on the fuzz face circuit with the addition of a 6 position frequency selector." But what are there value, and where does it sit, (pre vol/post vol, etc?)
I can draw a scheme when i know these.

thanks

I'm pretty sure it's the input cap, the values can be seen in the photo.
C1=.0047 C2=.01 C3=.033 C4=.068 C5=.12 C6=2.2 (polarized)

I was reading that the originals were actually handmade ge/si hybrids called afro fuzz. The tweak fuzz is an all silicon machine made version.

[edit]
And here are some quotes from another thread:
http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/i ... ic=35661.0

"It's a straight ahead FF clone with input cap switching; change 33k to 22k, use 470 ohm and 8.2k, and a 22uf on the GAIN pot. BTW I would triple check the values of the pots, 100k seems plausible for volume but 500k [for gain] seems a bit large."

"Also, as far as I can tell (since the rotary switch obscures the PCB) with the input cap switching: the end of the caps that go to the input transitors are all tied together. The "input" of the input caps all have their own individual 100k pull-down resistors, and the "input" of the input caps are switched. In other words, ignoring the bypass switching (which is a vanilla true bypass using a 3PDT) the guitar signal goes to the common of the rotary switch, and the switch then selects between caps."

"forgot, the transistors are SMD 2N3904s"

it's a very simple mod to do.

you just need a 1pole6position rotary switch.

1. connect the pole of the rotary switch to either one of the eyelets for the input cap (2.2uf).

2. connect one end of each of the new input caps to their appropriate position on the rotary switch.

3. twist all of the unsoldered ends of the caps together.

4. connect the "twisted" end of the caps to the other open eyelet for the 2.2uf input cap on the circuit board.

this mod will work on a normal fuzz clone. All you need is the 6 caps, 6 resistors, and 1 pole 6 switch.

I am in the process of drawing a schem for it, also i will draw up a schem of the "mod", as well as the whole thing.

Do you think it would sound better if it were germanium instead of silicon?

The orginial design had one of each. This make the pedal sound wierd and wonderful. But in the style of BYOC you could wired it so that you can switch too either one of each, or either one pair.

I wish I could borrow a Tweak Fuzz for a couple of days so I could sort of quasi-reverse engineer it. There are only 2 or 3 settings I like on the 6-way tweak selector. If I could just figure out the values of those 2 or 3 caps, I could just do a mod with 3-way selector switch.
